Located a few metres away from Buenos Aires Hostel, Margot Café (formerly known as "Trianon") was recognised in 2003 by the government as a building of special cultural importance. For decades they have been serving their popular turkey sandwiches, made according to a recipe that is kept secret to this day.

Above Margot Café, in contrast, you can find a rock art gallery, small theatre, and the Library Boedo XXI Lubrano Zas, which houses the Board of Historical Studies for the Boedo neighbourhood. The restored building is one of the oldest in the area and maintains its original structure..

On the next corner is Esquina Pugliese, (formerly known both as Bar Recuerdo and Old Bar Alabama), a tango house frequented by the renowned Osvaldo Pugliese, one of the city´s leading musicians. His first tango "Recuerdo" is named in honour of the establishment.

Boedo saw the construction of some of Buenos Aires´ first theatres. In addition to its many shops, and banks, there is also the old market of San Juan and Boedo. This market was built in 1895 and was one of the first indoor shopping centres.

Also worthy of mention is the nearby Alenjo Café, one of the few traditional billiards halls in the city, which boasts 14 pool and billiards tables.

There is also the tranquil square Plaza Mariano Boedo. The pavements are flanked by beautiful, mature trees that give life and colour. Despite all the amenities, Boedo remains a largely residential area that still offers a lot of surprises as traditional houses contrast with modern homes.

Most locals lived in low houses, known as "casa chorizo" with a simple, identical designs centred around a dining room and front room, with smaller adjoining dorms. By the beginning of the twentieth century cafes and tango corners had sprung up, attracting criminals and poets in equal measure, as a result a bohemian atmosphere survives in Bodeo.
